What is a reason that keeps you from walking through Central Park at night? Fear.

What keeps you buying things you think you need to feel comfortable? Fear.

What keeps you in your crappy job trying to pay off the endless supply of bills? Fear.

What makes you afraid to let your kids play outside? Fear.

It seems that the more and more the media hypes the economic situation, the worse it gets. This makes people worry more and shut themselves in more and more. The media plays on terrorist events like the one in Mumbai, India, to instill fear. The media tells you your 401k is going down the drain, be afraid. They show you every detail about school and workplace shootings. Be afraid. The media reports that there is a viable threat here and a terrorist link there. Be afraid, wherever you are. 

Watch the news taken with a grain of salt. It’s fearmongering as part of the mechanism to keep you in line. Check out this article on media fear mongers.

This is pure bliss for retailers like Wal Mart. People are having to tighten their grip on their wallets and now are turning more and more to the big boxes with lower prices. This is going to drive a lot of community and local businesses to the breaking point. The ability to buy so much gives the behemoth an advantage over every one else. 

They don’t pay well, they don’t exactly contribute to communities and now they strengthening their position due to the hard economic times. My solution, don’t go there.

It seems as though people in America have changed. Well, we have. Not just our mindsets, but there are more and more people from all over the world looking for the American Dream, which is becoming fleeting. 

“It’s not just handed to you anymore?”

“You can’t just buy a house with whatever credit rating you have?”

I see alot of people that want things just handed to them. Want a house! Here you go. (Oh, my variable rate mortgage is too high, I want my house anyway!) 

I’m illegal and you want to throw me out of the country? MAKE ME LEGAL! Hand it to me!

I don’t have the skills to do this job, but give it to me anyway! 

You see where I’m going. 

Now Obama will give you a job making roads and whatnot. Here you go! Don’t earn enough money down there in middle classville, don’t work for it. Here you go! Redistribute that wealth there Mr. Obama.

I tell you, this year has been crazy for the economy. Gas prices hit all time highs, and now are dropping faster than a bowling ball out of the back of a 747.

Stocks close lower every day. Huge financial firms get bailouts. Car companies need our money to keep operating. People are getting laid off. A new president being elected didn’t do anything. Investors are running scared. Times are changing.

Obama is not dumb. He knows something is going down. It’s our economy. Many are thinking another depression.

Let’s get this straight – “AMERICA, YOU SPEND TOO MUCH!” Many times a lot more than you had. This goes for private individuals and the government. Look at the national debt. Our elected officials are not doing their jobs.

Type in second great depression on YouTube and you’ll see, there are a lot of worried people. Take a look at the Ron Paul video below. Some of our officials do their job, but the majority doesn’t listen. Now we’ll listen to ourselves fall.

I started off my new blog with a Ron Paul video. It seems as if the media controls things today, in my humble opinion. You probably have heard the reports that Mr. President Elect got way more press coverage than did his adversary on the other side of the aisle. The media plays such a large roll in people’s actions these days, maybe too much. They look to the television to give them the answers on what is going on in the world.

The economy is one such example. I’ve heard all this talk about how bad it’s getting, this just perpetuates more and more fear and less and less spending. Every other story is about how bad the economy is getting. It’s ok to report the news, I’m all for it. But harping and harping on the subject will not make things better with the people who are a bit too swayed by what they believe is the honest truth. The media elite.

The nomination and election coverage was so hilarious I couldn’t believe my eyes. They stuck guys like Ron Paul off in a corner on the debates while giving the supposed REAL candidates the spotlight. It was ridiculous. If you ever heard that Ron Paul or some other “fringe” candidate came in second or third in a primary, you were lucky. The only outlet Ron Paul had was the internet, which in my opinion is a Godsend. The only downfall of the Net as an outlet is credibility. But looking at the media outlets as they exist today, I don’t know what to call credible anymore.

People became blinded to the issues and were just searching for “change” and “hope.” When you don’t take time to think for yourself and rely on what others say, you’re in for a rude awakening.
